🎮 The live battle in Gangs of Mafia – an online browser strategy game

The live battle is the real-time strategy part of the Arabic mafia game Gangs of Mafia. You enter it from the War button in your military base and command your real army on a live map: move infantry, tanks, drones and aircraft, call special strikes, and destroy the enemy HQ before it destroys yours. It runs on mobile and desktop with no download, and the whole screen belongs to the battle.

Battle types

  • Attacking a player: Send your army across the world map to the base of a player from another gang; when it arrives you play the battle yourself against their buildings, wall, towers and army. World map
  • The campaign: 6 missions in order, each with its own goal and a first-time prize.
  • Quick battle: Against the computer gang on three levels: easy, normal and hard. Every win lifts you on the weekly heroes board: one point for easy, two for normal and three for hard.
  • The General's fortress: A weekly fortress for every gang that the members hit together; when it falls everyone who took part gets a prize.
  • Your army is real: The units you take from your base are lost if they die and come home if they live. Inside the battle you earn battle coins to build towers and money vaults, and you can buy extra units with cash. As your factories level up you unlock advanced units: rocket infantry, snipers, commandos, light and heavy tanks, artillery, scout and bomber drones, helicopters and bombers.

Special strikes

During the battle you charge four special strikes, each unlocked by a building in your base:

  • ✈️ Air strike: three jets bomb a whole line of the map.
  • 💥 Artillery barrage: a rain of shells on an area you pick.
  • 🪂 Paratroopers: infantry drop by parachute where you tap.
  • 🛡️ Base shield: your buildings take a quarter of the damage for 15 seconds.

🛢️ Oil fields and shared defence

War in Gangs of Mafia is more than raiding bases: the world map has oil wells and fields guarded by computer guards (NPC). Send your army to take one; if it wins it stays to hold it, the field pays you cash and war energy every hour while your army holds it, and any other gang can come and take it from you.

  • Small oil well: $2,000,000 + 200 ⚡ an hour
  • Oil field: $3,500,000 + 350 ⚡ an hour
  • Large oil field: $5,000,000 + 500 ⚡ an hour

With shared defence you send part of your army to guard a gang mate's base: if someone attacks him, your units fight alongside him, by the numbers and in the live battle. That way the whole gang protects its members.

Tips to win

  • Use the first minute of truce to set up your units before the enemy waves arrive.
  • Tanks soak up damage at the front, infantry is cheap and fast, and aircraft and drones hit from above.
  • Save the air strike for enemy crowds and the artillery for defence towers.
  • Upgrade your base buildings: every higher building gives you stronger units and stronger special strikes in battle.
